ABOUT THE NSS The National Space Society currently has between 7,000 and 8,000 paid members of which approximately 1200 people attend our annual International Space Development Conferences.

While most of our members live within the US, the NSS has over 50 chapters worldwide.

NSS membership includes:

  • Government and corporate representatives from organizations such as Alliant Techsystems, Bigelow Aerospace, Boeing, the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the Johnson Space Center, Near Earth LLP, NewSpace Global, Orbital Sciences Corporation, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Space Adventures, SpaceX, X-Cor Aerospace and others.
  • Representatives from other space organizations such as the Aero Space & Defense Forum, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the Canadian Space Society, the Canadian Space Commerce Association, the Commercial Spaceflight Federation (CSF), the Mars Society, the Planetary Society, the Moon Society, the Satellite Industries Association, the Secure World Foundation, the Space Frontier Foundation, the Space Tourism Society and the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS).

NSS actively engages and recruits college age students and and active space industry insiders. Our most active NSS chapters are near college campuses and industry facilities.

  • Half of all NSS members have college or graduate degrees.
  • Most have at least some college education and most possess higher than average discretionary incomes (top 20%).

Previous ISDC conferences have taken place in Los Angeles, CA (2014), San Diego, CA (2013), Washington, DC (2012), Huntsville, AL (2011) and Chicago, IL (2010). Canada last hosted an ISDC in Toronto, ON in 1994.
